Natasha Sunshine, star stylist shares tips to get the Meryl Streep look

Celebrity Hairstylist Natasha Sunshine of Byu-Ti Salon walks us down the  Red Carpet with Meryl Streep and share some tips for how we can look like that…(Natasha is owner of   BYU-TI SALON, 510 Wilshire Blvd.,Santa Monica, California, 310 587 2207. www.byu-tisalon.com,   and will be opening a second star-studded salon in Brentwood in March).

Here goes ladies, good luck:

This is one Meryl’s best looks ever on the Red Carpet. She looks elegant in white with a tightly pinned french twist with a loosely hanging front section. To get the look, set you hair with medium-sized hot rollers spraying each section before rolling with a workable hairspray like Pureology’s StrengtheningControl. Run your fingers through the set after taking the rollers down and pin the back into a clean french twist. Leave out the front section that best suits your face and give a final blast of hairspray toomplete the look.

2009 Oscars

Meryl looks age appropriate here in her mature upstyle here at the 2009 Oscars. To get the look, follow the same guidelines as the above set using medium-sized hot rollers. Leave the top section out and pin the back into a crisp french twist. Take a one inch barrel curling iron and roll each small section individually to get extra support. Spray with a stronger hold hairspray like Pureology’s InCharge Plus after setting curls into place and securing with a grip or bobby pin that matches your hair color.

Classic dress and loose hair seem to be the most flattering on Meryl as you can see here with her should length half up, blow-dry. To get the look, start by using a light hold styler like Pureology’s NourishingNectar then blow all the hair under using a medium sized round brush for a soft bend on the ends and a bit of volume on top. Keep hair side parted on your best side and pull both sections above the ear back. Pin on side with a seem of grips or bobby pins then use the other side to hide the pins. Secure the final section right into the seem using U-shaped hair pins that match your hair color. Give a final dose of a stronger hold hairspray like InCharge Plus to lock the look in.

This easy look suits Meryl’s gentle demeanor. To get the look, simply pull clean dry hair back into a classic knot or french twist in the back leaving a touch of volume at the top. Note that these natural looks tend fall out quickly so using a strong hold hairspray like InCharge Plus will keep the style throughout the evening.

Meryl seems best suited to styles with her her sides pulled back. It gives her classic beauty a timeless elegance that works well. To get this look, you’ll want to set the hair once again using the medium-sozed roller and spraying with a lighter holder hairspray like StrengtheningControl. Release the set after the roller cool. Part hair on the desired side or down the middle as shown here. Pull only the back into a french knot or twist. Then softly pull the sides back into your chignon and secure with two grips or bobby pins on each side. Give a final dose of a strong hold like InCharge hairspray.

MA.C Cosmetics can turn you into a modern day princess–here’s how

Get the look of a Modern Day Princess using MA.C Cosmetics with these tips from super talent, celebrity stylist, Stacey Ellis of Byu-Ti Salon (www.byu-ti.com).

During our 20’s our skin was pretty well behaved and easy care, there were less pimples and less wrinkles. Although it still took a beating, when we didn’t wash off our make up before bed and we would cake more make up on to go out at night, the skin was pretty resilient.

When we reach our 30’s we need to take a little more care with our skin to avoid it getting dehydrated and keep it looking youthful.

For the make up to look flawless you need to take care in cleansing your face well and keeping it hydrated. Leaving make up on can block the pores and cause break outs and not moisturizing can lead to dry patches and wrinkles.

After cleansing and toning the skin, always apply a moisturizer this acts like the conditioner in your hair, keeping the face looking and feeling soft, supple and well hydrated. A moisturizer or a foundation with sunscreen in it will help to protect your skin from aging.

M.A.C has a wide range of moisturizers, try using the Complete Comfort Creme at night which is a very nourishing cream but is also great on sensitive skin. Then before applying your make up use the Studio Moisture Fix SPF 15

Here is the key to getting this natural glowing and glamorous look using M.A.C Cosmetics. Kate is wearing a warm toned smokey eye with a neutral lip, this look can be worn from day time into the evening

Youthful Face: Apply Mineralize Satinfinish Foundation SPF 15 on a clean sponge or foundation brush. Apply 2 coats for going out at night and dab onto the to areas where extra coverage is needed. This liquid foundation will glide over the skin with out caking and leave a luminous, youthful glow.

Set the liquid foundation with Select Sheer/Loose Powder, on a large powder brush, shake off the excess then dust lightly over the whole face. Apply less around the eye area where the skin is thin and delicate and dries out easier.

Using a medium sized brush apply Powder Blush, color Pinch Me, to the cheek and back toward the ear. This Coral based color gives a warm natural glow.

Bold Eyes: Always start with the lightest eyeshadow color, using a large, soft bristle eye shadow brush. Mylar, is a cream color with sheen, apply this under the brow and into the inside corner of the eye lid to awaken the eyes.

Next apply the darkest shade across the eyelid blending up to the crease, using a medium sized firm brush. The color is Diamond Dove, a deep gray/brown which is a little softer than using a black. Keep the lid color more dense and the crease softer, blending up.

Merge the light and dark together with a mid-tone color called Honey Lust, a warm soft peach color. Apply with a medium sized soft bristle brush along the crease where the dark meets the lightest shade, keep the lightest color showing under the brow.

Create a statement with the bold line around the entire eye and inside eye lash line with Technakohl Liner color, Graphblack, apply thickly and soften the line with a Q-tip under the eye.

Finish the eyes with 2 coats of black, Pro Lash Mascara for longer, fuller lashes.
